It’s been over a decade now since I first travelled to Naknek, AK to learn the ways of hillbilly engineering.
A year ago we decided to use that education to restore a piece of history — the old kitchen, a building that predates to Civil War here in America. One weekend a month was spent over the past year to simply restore the front of the building. We used salvaged wood from other barns that had fallen after storms a few years back.
There is still work to be done in 2014 but all and all we have accomplished what we thought was possible. And everyone went home with ten fingers & ten toes — not bad for days work on the farm… (at Manor Farm)
